NAACP: Incriminate African American Smokers!

This writer will add a video above as soon as I can overcome cyberstalkers who prevent my video uploads to hide information about the secret arrest and murder of Larry Neal and the Cochran Firm Fraud. The National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a large and old organization that traditionally advocates for ADVANCEMENT of minorities, particularly African Americans. Most Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. EST, I participate in discussions on the Rev. Pinkney Blogtalk Radio Show (call-in number: 347-994-3644). He is the president of the NAACP chapter in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The shows focus on political prisoners in the United States and race and class discrimination by the injustice system. I also admire J. Whyatt Mondesire. In August 2008, I published an article at NowPublic.com called "Congressional Apology for Slavery - Acceptance Pending." I included a statement by Mr. Mondesire, president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the NAACP. He boldly stated his belief that the Congressional apology for slavery might be a "publicity stunt." I was glad that someone who is less censored than I am published that opinion. It is dishonest to apologize for offenses that are ongoing and exacerbating. See my article at HubPages, "Mary Neal's Black History Month 2011" and Google for my poem, "Mass Hypnosis." As I tweeted yesterday at Twitter, where I am KoffieTime, "There are two empty graves: Jim Crowe and Jesus Christ. They both arose!"

There are undoubtedly many dedicated members and officers in the NAACP like Rev. Pinkney and Mr. Mondesire who diligently perform the organization's purpose to expose racism and fight for oppressed people, despite risk to themselves. However, I am concerned about the organization's national headquarters, especially after learning that the NAACP proposed legislation regarding cigarette smoking that would target black smokers with particularity and possibly subject black nicotine addicts to criminal prosecution.America does not need to expand the expensive War on Drugs to criminalize cigarette smoking, and it must make no laws specifically designed to incriminate blacks as the NAACP advocates. The very idea of adding more prisoners to compound taxpayers' $50 billion/year prison cost is ridiculous at a time when public services are being eliminated or reduced due to lack of funding. The notion of any human/civil rights organization propagating discriminatory laws targeting black people is unforgivable.

Racism and health care make a dangerous mix. Other programs used unsuspecting blacks as medical test subjects since the Tuskegee Experiments. When I was a teen growing up in Tennessee in the early 1970s, a 15-year-old classmate of mine wanted a birth control method that her mother would not know about, an IUD. The child was nervous about undergoing installation of the device, but she knew her mother would likely find birth control pills. The county health department offered her another option. She was started on birth control shots that prevented pregnancy for several months with each injection. I read in a medical journal over 20 years later that the birth control shots had just been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after being tested on subjects in a third world country. Many women now use Depo-Provera, a drug for which Upjohn was repeatedly denied FDA approval from 1973 until October 1992. Yet, my teenage classmate was regularly injected with the birth control shot starting around 1970. I communicated via email about my young classmate having been used as guinea pig for Big Pharm by a government facility with the author of Medical Apartheid, and she was not surprised. (This happened before the censorship team started monitoring all of my emails and preventing them at will to prevent disclosure about my handicapped brother's secret arrest and murder and news like you are reading now.) According to a recent report with graphic photographs, Malaria studies were also conducted on Americans. The Daily Mailer Reporter carried the report on February 28 2011, called “Medical Experiments on the Disabled and Prisoners.” Using nicotine addiction as an opportunity to incriminate African Americans would be in keeping with other racist programs. The only thing new is that the NAACP is behind it.

America has tougher sentencing requirements regarding crack vs. powder cocaine that resulted from racism and delivered many thousands of African Americans into prison with sentences that were significantly longer than whites who use or sell powder cocaine. Now the NAACP supports discriminatory laws targeting African Americans by seeking to outlaw use and sales of menthol cigarettes. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs, and 80% of black smokers use menthol cigarettes. The federal government and Fortune 500 companies prefer using people convicted for nonviolent offenses as prison laborers to avoid unions, minimum wage and worker safety laws. Ideally, outlawing menthol cigarettes will deliver hundreds of thousands of blacks with no criminal backgrounds into bondage. How’s that for a prison profiteering idea? Google “NAACP menthol cigarettes” to research this plot by an organization that used to fight for equal justice for minorities, primarily African Americans. Equal justice would demand that ALL cigarettes be equally legal or illegal, but this and other laws are being contemplated and enacted specifically to criminalize America’s black and brown citizens and immigrants.

I read Michelle Obama’s statement that her husband has quit smoking. Even very intelligent people with a strong sense of determination struggle with nicotine addiction. The failure and expense of the War on Drugs proves that attempting to legislate addictions is futile, except for prison owners/investors. It is logical for prison profiteers to propose outlawing commonly used products in a nation where taxpayers currently pay over $50 billion per year to incarcerate 2.3 million Americans, more than half of whom were indicted for nonviolent offenses. Besides the tax revenue, prison investors gain billions more per annum by supplying prison laborers to government and Big Business. Over $467 billion, a staggering amount of money, was spent on the War on Drugs in 2005. But less than four percent of that amount went to drug treatment programs lest drug users recover and cease recidivism. (If they let you, please see my Care2 Sharebook article published April 21, 2010, “Michael Douglass’ Son Cameron by Mary Neal.” It has useful information about financial costs associated with the War on Drugs and lost and wrecked lives.)

Substance abuse and addiction cost federal, state and local governments at least $467.7 billion in 2005 . . . The CASA report found that of $373.9 billion in federal and state spending, 95.6 percent ($357.4 billion) went to shovel up the consequences and human wreckage of substance abuse and addiction; only 1.9 percent went to prevention and treatment, 0.4 percent to research, 1.4 percent to taxation and regulation, and 0.7 percent to interdiction. (National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASAColumbia.org))

When I learned that menthol cigarettes will be outlawed if the NAACP gets it way, I considered how easy it would be to turn a regular cigarette that white people favor into a menthol cigarette. Just crumble dried mint into tobacco and roll ‘em up! But mint may be outlawed as well. Yes, hurry and dig up your mint plants, ladies and gents! If you grow mint among your herbs, menthol-craving addicts may be driven to trespass on your garden to steal the mint. Eventually, mint will be outlawed like marijuana, and you could be charged with possession of a controlled substance and sentenced to prison for years. This spring I will invest in some mint plants. If the NAACP has its way, mint could soon be a million dollar commodity.

I will also buy chocolate and freeze it – especially chocolate covered mints! In prison profiteers’ determination to have more nonviolent laborers, chocolate will certainly be outlawed if ever prison investors decide to criminalize a product that whites also use. Cigarette smoking can lead to serious health problems, and the NAACP alleges that the menthol flavor induces young people to smoke. The same excuse can also be used to outlaw chocolate, which probably has zero nutritional value. Obesity is a major problem in America, and most obese people love chocolate. Even people who eat substantial amounts of chocolate without weight gain have a higher incidence of diabetes, a serious and sometimes deadly ailment. Chocolate treats lure many youngsters into obesity. That places chocolates on a par with menthol cigarettes – some people get addicted, and others do not. Consumers may or may not experience health problems associated with cigarette smoking or eating chocolate, but that is not the point. It is already illegal in all 50 states to sell cigarettes to minors, butthe NAACP wants to SAVE THE CHILDREN by incarcerating their parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts who smoke. That is the point.

All over the country, millions more children would be separated from their parents. Taxpayers would bear the burden of supporting children whose parents are arrested for smoking Newports, and prison profiteers will be paid around $50,000 per year for each Kool criminal plus enforce his/her labor to displace another American worker. Sounds like a good deal for prison owners, especially since the congressional bill Rep. Alcee Hastings, a black Democrat from Florida, introduced did not get ratified into law.

Rep. Hastings introduced H.R.645, the concentration camp bill, on January 21, 2009 – the day after America’s most memorable inauguration. He proposed erecting six (6) concentration camps inside the USA for Americans. Supposedly, the FEMA centers were to be used for “Katrina-like disasters.” “Katrina” may have been a codeword to describe the FEMA centers’ main intended tenants. Because of well-deserved distrust of government health programs engendered by the Tuskegee Experiments, many African Americans would have been eligible for arrest in the FEMA centers. Plans were to quarantine people who refused the H1N1 vaccines, except for those who could pay a $1,000 per day fine (stated in the Massachusetts Marshal Law Bill which passed in October 2009). Luckily, the H1N1 flu endemic passed and was exposed as being a possible hoax to benefit drug manufacturers, because the Tuskegee Experiments largely destroyed African Americans’ faith in the government’s medical integrity. The United States Department of Health injected syphilis into unsuspecting blacks in the South from 1932 until 1972 to observe the effects of the sometimes fatal disease – effects that were already well documented.

Good investments for entrepreneurs who think they can outrun the NEWPORT POLICE: plastic reusable menthol filters, mint plants, and truckloads of menthol cigarettes.

I took a poll to determine what products may be outlawed next because they are primarily sold to black consumers. The consensus is that the NAACP will push to outlaw chitterlings next, followed by pigtails and pig feet. Those parts of the pig are high in fat and usually prepared with more sodium than is considered healthy. Like cigarette smoking, pork is alleged to cause health problems, especially in people who have hypertension, a common ailment among blacks. A high-fat diet may lead to colon cancer and other diseases. Outlawing less lean parts of pigs would target black consumers and be excused as “saving” blacks from bad health by delivering us (and suppliers) into prison where the menu is very slenderizing, I hear (Georgia prison laborers revealed they are very hungry during the work strike in December 2010). Outlawing chitterlings, pigtails and pig feet would criminalize scores of blacks who are nonsmokers. Relax, pork lovers. You will have larger portions at Sunday dinners with many of your relatives and friends behind bars for sneaking a puff. But enjoy your chitterlings a while longer. For now, only black smokers and all taxpayers are threatened by government’s paternalism, God complex, or hunger for fresh prisoners, whichever the case may be.

The NAACP purports to “save” African Americans from unhealthy decisions via the injustice system by supporting racist legislation that would incriminate black cigarette smokers almost exclusively. The rate of incarceration among young black males is already 1 in 9 in a nation where 1 in 30 people is in the system as an inmate, parolee, or probationer. Apparently, that is not nearly enough for the NAACP, Rep. Alcee Hastings, and prison investors. Justice Thurgood Marshall is whirling in his grave.

Some people may be surprised to learn the NAACP not only accepts but actually advocates for discriminatory legislation targeting blacks. I am not surprised at all because I contacted the organization about the 2003 secret arrest and lynching of my mentally, physically handicapped brother in Memphis/Shelby County Jail numerous times and received no response. When I persisted, my emails to the organization received an automatic rejection notice. I learned later that numerous members of the Shelby County Commission, which owns and operates the jail that killed my brother and covered up his death, were high-ranking NAACP members and officials. Michael Hooks served on the Shelby County Commission at the time, and he is a nephew of the late NAACP president, Ben Hooks. God saw fit to take revenge on some of the Shelby County Commissioners by allowing their prosecution for other corruption that came to light after Larry’s murder cover-up (Google “Tennessee Waltz”). We await God’s other shoe, which will surely drop.

Immediately after Larry Neal’s lynching, The (Johnnie) Cochran Firm was instructed to sign contract with my elderly mother as our wrongful death attorneys. The harmless schizophrenic heart patient died after 18 days of secret arrest during which time police and jailers lied and denied having him in custody in order to purposefully deprive Larry of his vital heart meds. Apparently, police sought to be done with “the nuisance” who was occasionally arrested for singing loud and begging pedestrians for quarters. Although Larry’s family gave him money and he lived in a State-provided care home, his childlike generosity often left him broke.

Poor Larry became mentally ill at the age of 8 when infection from mumps went to his brain. He was institutionalized for 20 years until funding for inpatient psychiatric treatment through Medicaid ended in the late 1960’s (targeting mental patients), and many thousands of acute mental patients were ejected from the nation’s mental hospitals, community services were drastically reduced, and psychiatric treatment became nearly inaccessible by the “immediate danger to self and others” requirement for hospital admission. Like many laws that directly benefit prison owners/investors, acute mental patients’ “de-institutionalization” was said to be for the patients’ own good. The result was that scores of people like Larry who did not have a loving family died in our streets by starvation, freezing, medical neglect, and brutality. Others committed crimes ranging from simple vagrancy to murders that could and should have been prevented by caring for our most vulnerable citizens. The next generation of people with chronic mental health issues like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and post traumatic stress syndrome skipped mental hospitals and went straight to jail, where blacks who like menthol cigarettes are intended to go.

The managing partner of the Memphis office of The Cochran Firm was a long-standing member of the Shelby County Commission and probably an important NAACP member, but my mother and I live in Atlanta and did not know about Julian Bolton, Esq.’s double role. Neither did The Cochran Firm inform us of the its blatant, unethical conflict of interest. The Cochran Firm’s new owners misused the firm’s position as our legal agents regarding Larry’s death to work for Shelby County Jail and prevent our lawsuit from being filed (Google “Cochran Firm Fraud”). Knowing that the Neal family was being “handled” by The Cochran Firm, Shelby County officials proceeded to submit documents and testimony to the federal government that omitted Larry Neal’s arrest – the murder they chose to cover-up, and federal officials colluded to allow the omission. Regular citizens ("slave class") who lie on their income tax or commit some other fraud against the government are sorely prosecuted, but not the inside traitors. The United States Department of Justice now has a black Attorney General, and he refuses to investigate my brother’s murder cover-up or respond to our requests for records under the Freedom of Information Act. Blacks who have not already laid aside prejudice should be aware that some people count on their gullibility and use people like Ernest C. Withers to disappoint them. Withers was a photojournalist who traveled throughout the South during the civil rights movement and documented the people's struggles for freedom and equality. It was revealed by the Memphis Commercial Appeal in September 2010 that Withers, who died in 2007 at age 85, was also an FBI informant in its COINTELPRO program, which was committed to spying on the civil rights movement and disrupting it.

In November 2006, when Atlanta police officers killed 92-year-old African American elder, Kathryn Johnston, in a home invasion, The Cochran Firm was also sent to “represent” her survivors. I was alarmed to think Ms. Johnston’s relatives might also be defrauded. I attended one of the NAACP town hall meetings that were held to diffuse tension in the black community, allowing people to vent to forestall riots. I passed out flyers to attendees, the media, and the black dignitaries who assembled to meet with the community, including national as well as local figures. The flyers told about Larry’s murder and my family’s denial of justice in Georgia courts. The Cochran Firm, which I did not know was COINTELPRO at the time, persuaded judges to rule that there is no Cochran Firm office in the State of Georgia and that defrauding a black family is immaterial anyway. The Cochran Firm also denied the existence of its Memphis office. The courts dismissed my family's lawsuits, which prevented the cases from going to jury and blowing The Cochran Firm’s cover. The government-controlled media refused to report that The Cochran Firm denied the existence of its offices in Atlanta and Memphis in courts of “law” to avoid paying damages to clients after defrauding them to help the jail where their handicapped relative had been murdered.

My family holds the unhappy distinction of being the first family in the 21st century to have a member secretly arrested and murdered in government custody and be denied any records or accountability whatsoever. If nothing is done to bring justice, I have no doubt more secret arrests and murders will follow. Right now, 37 Georgia inmates are reportedly "missing," and I hope they do not emerge from custody in body bags like Larry did. My mother and I are likely the only plaintiffs to ever be ruled "immaterial" by a federal court to prevent disclosure of records under federal subpoena and protect criminals in government.

Not only did I get no phone call as some black dignitaries at the NAACP town hall meeting promised me upon reading about my brother’s secret lynching in a Deep South jail in the 21st century, but the next morning when I exited my house to go to work, all my car doors were open, my trunk and hood were up, but nothing was taken from inside the car. That was not simple vandalism but a warning not to report The Cochran Firm fraud and to cease telling people about the WRONGFUL DEATH OF LARRY NEAL (Google that to reach our website about Larry). My family has had many such warnings in the years since then, including online and in-person stalking, denial of police response to our 911 call in 2008 by a police department that was run by a black sheriff in a county with a black CEO. We live in a suburb of Atlanta, birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and home to world-famous black politicians and civil rights leaders who ignore our persecution and Larry’s lynching. In June 2010, I was threatened with arrest by two black Atlanta police officers for standing on a public sidewalk in front of the court-declared "nonexistent" Atlanta Cochran Firm office and asking the public for help ascertaining justice for my brother's murder and warning them to be vigilant about Kathryn Johnston's survivors who depended on the same fraudulent attorneys to represent them in a civil action against the City of Atlanta. On my tapped telephone, we made arrangements to pass out flyers at the 2011 Black History Parade, and the parade was canceled. But in God we trust.

I have found that God is the only one who oppressed people can really trust. We must rely on Him and on one another, not so-called leaders of any race or organizations unless their current conduct proves them worthy of trust. It matters not what retired and deceased members of an organization did. I processed many requests for Social Security administrative hearings by elderly black people who were FBI informants during the civil rights movement to be impressed by who walked with Dr. King 40 years ago. Furthermore, people sometimes change for the worse. Many couples divorce because the parties find their mates made significant adverse changes over time that were detrimental to their union. (Google “Constitutional Rights Nullified for the Neal Family,” for a quick summary of our justice quest that has continued for more than seven years, and see “Concentration Camps Proposed in Congress – H.R.645 Mary Neal” to learn about more evil plans that could have impacted you and yours, but God saved us thus far. He never failed us yet.)

I had planned never to write in-depth about my disappointment over failed black leadership, mostly because it may be unprofitable to blacks for it to be widely known what has happened to law firms and organizations that we rely on. But any person or organization that proposes making laws against non-criminal conduct to help prison profiteers enslave more people to displace more American workers is repulsive to me, especially when said laws focus with particularity on some of my own family members and friends and yes, on ME. I smoke menthol cigarettes and will go to an expensive retreat and quit as soon as I publish my book about the horrible things hypocrites have done to hide Larry’s murder to censor and persecute my family and me for telling about it for the last six years, and because I assembled people online to advocate for other victims in the injustice system through ASSISTANCE TO THE INCARCERATED MENTALLY ILL (“AIMI”) Visit AIMI online, and consider joining the group, presently at Care2.

AIMI members march online for human rights for prisoners and other disenfranchised people daily. More marchers are needed, especially since 37 inmates are missing in Georgia where thousands of black, white, and Latino prisoners went on a worker’s strike in December that lasted for a week – America’s largest prison rebellion (censored because the strikers were nonviolent and the guards were not). Demanding accountability for what happened to Larry Neal and those inmates who conducted a peaceful protest for human rights would be a worthy undertaking for any human/civil rights organization – not making excuses to imprison more people, which would drive up court and prison costs that strain states’ budgets and necessitate closing more schools. How would having parents in jail for smoking Kools and closed down schools help children? Good gracious! as my grandma used to say. Maybe prison profiteers should be forthright and erect the concentration camps under Alcee Hasting’s plan rather than to use such blatantly racist, backhanded tactics as this. Do not stand mute while the injustice system is used to punish non-criminal behavior by African Americans. The fallout from such legislation would have dire consequences for all Americans.

Resist oppression by joining the BOYCOTT 4 JUSTICE – No shopping on the 9th of any month in 2011 beginning with March. Google “Boycott 4 Justice March 9 Mary Neal” for information. The love of money is the root of all evil. Every injustice Americans face financially benefits elitists. Address unethical business practices financially. Shopping boycotts have traditionally been used as an effective, peaceful method of protest. It is easy to participate – Make no purchases whatsoever on the 9th of any month this year to join the 9/11 response to corporate greed and government indifference. Ask others to observe the 24-hour shopping moratorium on the 9th of every month to protest ANY INJUSTICE you want, such as wars, executions, weakened environmental protection laws, or high incarceration rates that lead to unemployment as jobs are outsourced to prisons, which depletes revenue for education and other public services.

I hope you found the information in this article and others I publish useful and inspiring. If so, please share the links with your friends. I publish at HubPages, my Free Speak Blog at Blogger, at Care2, and access 173 of my articles at NowPublic.com. Most of what I publish is bad news, but God said His people perish for the lack of knowledge. Therefore, any news is good news if it brings knowledge and we adjust ourselves according to God’s will and the truth that He reveals to us: We must set aside racial prejudice and divisiveness based on ethnicities, socio-economic distinctions, and health status. There is no need for working class Latinos, Asians, blacks, whites and Native Americans to blame each other for the problems that beset us. God truly made enough food, raw materials, and space on earth for all men. Everyone who says He did not is lying. Every person on earth right now could fit standing shoulder to shoulder in just one country, yet people plan population control. There are no real shortages but too much greed and a strong desire to dominate. Regarding racism, Dr. King said we must judge men not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. His words reflected God’s perspective: Man looks on outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. Recognize also that it is essential to contribute more money and time to organizations that advocate for the people; otherwise, the organizations’ loyalties are subject to Change. Welcome to the end times.
